Denis Orsini has achieved his challenge last Saturday by completing a coastal walking tour of the island departing from Porto-Vecchio in the south.
A 38-day challenge involving around 12 to 15 hours of effort everyday through the almost impenetrable Corsican maquis, a type of thick scented bush used by the members of the Resistance during the Second World War to hide from the occupying German forces.
Mr Orsini told Corse Matin: "I've just made my dream come true, and this dream proves that Corsica is a wonderful place."
The athlete also mentioned that among all the memorable sites he visited, the Monte Seninu pass in the Porto gulf was one of his favourite ones.Mr Orsini covered the 1,400 km distance in just over a month, making his way south to Bonifacio and clockwise along the western coast.
The unprecedented challenge will be celebrated next month on August, 15th at Sainte-Lucie de Porto-Vecchio, and all the proceeds will go to the association "un sourire, un espoir pour la vie" which helps children with cancer.
